Pentre Ifan is around 5,000 years old and was originally part of a burial monument covered by a mound of earth. What survives now is the exposed chamber structure, crowned by a capstone approximately 5 metres long and weighing close to 16 tonnes. Resting on three slender uprights, it has held its place through thousands of years of weather and change.
