This design features a cute cat character dressed in traditional Welsh costume. The outfit itself is based on traditional Welsh dress, associated with rural life in the 18th and 19th centuries, and now commonly worn on Dydd Gwyl Dewi (St David’s Day) or when competing in a dawnsio gwerin dance off on the backstreets of a small town or village - Crickhowell for instance.The tall hat in particular has become one of the more recognisable symbols, even if most people only encounter it once a year. There’s something quietly amusing about the combination.
