This design centres on Bardsey Island (Ynys Enlli), a small island off the tip of the Llŷn Peninsula. It's a beatiful part of Cymru, known for its dramatic seabird colonies and windswept cliffs. It's a crossroads for birds on migration, and each spring and summer thousands of puffins, guillemots and other sea birds arrive to nest on its slopes. Bardsey Island also has a long history of spiritual significance — at one time it was home to a monastery and was known as the “Island of 20,000 Saints.” The combination of wildlife, history and isolation makes it a place that stands apart.. The design has a bold, lino-print-inspired style and the artwork uses clear outlines and strong shapes to suggest the island and its birdlife.
