This design centres on Bardsey Island (Ynys Enlli), a small island set off the tip of the Llŷn Peninsula. It is a notable part of Cymru, known for its seabird colonies and exposed cliffs. Positioned along a migration route, it sees thousands of puffins, guillemots and other seabirds arrive each spring and summer to nest. Bardsey Island also holds a long spiritual history - once home to a monastery and known as the “Island of 20,000 Saints.” The combination of wildlife, history and isolation gives it a distinct identity. The design uses a bold lino-print-inspired style, with clear outlines and strong shapes to suggest the island and its birdlife. A simple, confident design built around one of Wales’s most distinctive coastal islands.
