“Arglwydd, arwain trwy’r anialwch” is one of the great opening lines from a Welsh hymn - or any hymn for that matter. It was written by William Williams Pantycelyn, and it means “Lord, lead me through the wilderness”. Itlater became familiar in English through Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer.
For this women's t-shirt design, we’ve imagined that wilderness somewhere far out west - much further than St Davids even. The full back illustration replaces Welsh hills with a moonlit desert of giant cacti, mountains, scrub, a howling coyote and a slightly unsettling ram’s skull. The simple black linework has the look of an old Western badge or desert field-guide illustration.
The front is much quieter, with a small circular chest print featuring the cactus, coyote and crescent moon. A Welsh hymn t-shirt that takes Pantycelyn on an unexpected detour through the Wild West.
