Hafren Forest Mug

This mug design centres on Hafren Forest, near Llanidloes in Mid Wales. The illustration keeps things clear and simple, using bold shapes, clean linework and a low sun rising through the trees. Hafren Forest takes its name from Afon Hafren, the source river of the Severn, which begins nearby on the slopes of Plynlimon / Pumlumon. Here, one of Britain’s great rivers starts quietly as a trickle through peatland before quickly becoming lively water, descending through the forest in a chain of streams, cascades and waterfalls. The woodland itself was mainly planted during the 1930s, with pine and spruce dominating the landscape. Marked trails follow the river to scenic spots including Blaen Hafren Falls and the famously named Severn-Break-its-Neck.
