This design is based on Hafren Forest, near Llanidloes in Mid Wales . The illustration keeps things simple: bold shapes, clean lines, and that classic rising sun sitting low between the trees. Hafren Forest takes its name from Afon Hafren — the River Severn — which begins just beyond the forest on the slopes of Plynlimon / Pumlumon, the highest mountain in Mid Wales. Not far from here, the river starts as a small trickle in a peat bog before quickly turning into fast-moving water, dropping through the forest in a series of cascades and waterfalls. The forest itself was mostly planted in the 1930s, mostly pine and spruce. You’ve got well-marked trails running alongside the river, including routes out to spots like Blaen Hafren Falls and the terrifyingly named 'Severn-Break-its-Neck'. The design keeps things straightforward: a clean, centred graphic that captures that mix of trees, water, and open sky.
