This piece forms part of a series of minimalist designs focused on well-known parts of Wales. Harlech Castle is one of the country’s most atmospheric and scenic castles, overlooking the sea and the wide stretch of land beyond. Built in the late 13th century as part of Edward I’s chain of fortresses, it later played a central role during the Wars of the Roses. The castle held out for years as a Lancastrian stronghold before falling in 1468 after one of the longest sieges in British history. The artwork uses bold shapes and clear lines to suggest the outline of the castle without added detail. The lettering stays plain and confident, letting the name and silhouette sit well together. A straightforward take on a top Welsh landmark.
