Pwll y Wrach means “Witch’s Pool” in Welsh, a name given to the waterfall and deep plunge pool on the River Ennig near Talgarth in Powys. The river drops in two streams over a ledge into a dark, wooded basin. It’s an atmospheric and striking place. Local tradition suggests the name may come from a medieval practice of suspected witches being “ducked” in the pool below the fall.
