This is a kids version of our Hafren Forest t-shirt. Hafren Forest is named after Afon Hafren — the River Severn — which rises close by on the slopes of Plynlimon / Pumlumon, the highest mountain in Mid Wales. Around here, the Severn begins as little more than a trickle in the peat before gathering pace and running down through the forest in a series of falls and cascades. The forest itself was largely planted in the 1930s, mostly with pine and spruce. Today, waymarked trails follow the river through the trees, passing spots such as Blaen Hafren Falls and the wonderfully dramatic Severn-Break-its-Neck — a name that does quite a lot of heavy lifting.
