Rugby has long been part of everyday life across Wales, from packed international matches to the many local clubs playing each weekend in towns and villages. The national side first took the field in 1881, and the game quickly became central to Welsh sporting culture. This design turns the map of Wales into a cheerful cartoon rugby player, charging forward with the ball tucked under one arm. The illustration uses a playful retro mascot style, with bold outlines, simple shapes and bright colours that echo vintage cartoon characters. The running figure and classic rugby ball keep the graphic clear and energetic, giving the sense that Wales itself has joined the match. A bright graphic built around the idea that in Wales, rugby is never far away - even if we are really bad at it at the moment! Cadw'r fydd!!
