This piece forms part of a series of minimalist designs focused on well-known parts of Wales. Ynys Llanddwyn sits off the west coast of Anglesey, linked to the mainland at low tide by a narrow strip of sand. The island is closely tied to Santes Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of lovers. According to legend, she came here after a broken heart and was granted three wishes, one being that true lovers would be blessed. Her well on the island was once visited by couples looking for signs about their future. The artwork uses bold shapes and clean lines to suggest the outline of the island and its lighthouse without added detail. A bright, pared-back take on one of Wales’s most recognisable coastal spots.
