William Williams Pantycelyn probably wasn’t picturing coyotes and giant cacti when he wrote “Arglwydd, arwain trwy’r anialwch”, but that’s where this design has ended up.
The phrase “Lord, lead me through the wilderness” - opens the hymn known in English as Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer. It's undisputiably one of the great Hymns of all time. A real banger. If the 'Now that's what I call Music' people released an album of hymns it would definitely be on it. Rather than treating the wilderness metaphorically, this hoodie design drops it into a proper desert landscape - cactus country, distant ridges, a crescent moon, a lone coyote and the remains of something that didn’t make it.
The monochrome line drawing gives the artwork an old-fashioned Western feel, while a smaller circular left-chest print repeats the cactus, moon and coyote as a simple badge. Part Welsh hymn, part desert road trip, and definitely nowhere near Cwm Rhondda.
