This design is based on vintage produce labels, given a Welsh and Argentinian twist. At the centre are two cheerful cartoon cherries, both linked to Trelew in Patagonia. Trelew was founded in 1886 by Welsh settlers, with its name coming from “tre” (town) and “Lew,” referring to Lewis Jones. It sits in the Chubut Valley within Y Wladfa, where settlers travelled over 8,000 miles to build a new community and preserve their culture. Though far from Cymru, the connection remains through place names, chapels, tea houses and the continued use of Welsh. The design keeps things simple and graphic, using bold shapes and limited colour. Checkerboard detail and block lettering give it a retro feel, while the characters add personality. A playful design built around a distant but familiar Welsh connection.
