This design looks to vintage produce labels, with a playful Welsh and Argentinian twist. At the centre are two cheerful cartoon cherries, both said to be from Trelew in Patagonia. Trelew has a well-known Welsh connection, founded in 1886 by settlers. Its name combines “tre,” meaning town, and “Lew,” referring to Lewis Jones. The town sits in the Chubut Valley, part of Y Wladfa, where Welsh settlers travelled thousands of miles to build a new community. It’s a long way from Cymru, but the link remains through place names, chapels, tea houses and the language still used there. The design keeps things simple and graphic, with bold shapes and limited colour. Checkerboard detail and block lettering give it a retro feel. A playful design built around a place with a strong Welsh link.
