This design takes a light-hearted look at the idea that Elvis Presley may have been Welsh by descent. With the Preseli Hills behind him, a familiar-looking man in sunglasses and raised collar enjoys a burger while looking thoroughly comfortable in Pembrokeshire. The illustration uses thick outlines, simple shapes and a soft retro palette that gives it warmth and character. The theory itself has been around for years. Some mention the similarity between Presley and Preseli. Others point to Eglwys Elvis, a church in Pembrokeshire connected with St Elvis, who legend says baptised St David. His mother’s name, Gladys, is also sometimes linked to the Welsh gwlad — country, land or nation. None of it is firmly proven, but certainty is not the attraction here. A fun, character-led design combining place, legend and a story too good to ignore.
