This design features a cheerful cartoon lemon, out walking through a pine forest in Pembroke. He’s just become a grandfather, which is mentioned but not especially relevant. Most people associate Pembroke with the castle, Henry VII, sea mist from Freshwater West or chips by the harbour with a persistent seagull. This design instead references Pembroke Pines in Florida. The name links back to Sir Edward J. Reed, an MP for Pembroke in the 19th century, whose land company owned large areas in the region. A road took the Pembroke name, and when the city was incorporated in 1960, it became Pembroke Pines, drawing on both that connection and the surrounding trees.
