Rugby runs through everyday life across Wales, from international matches to the many local clubs that take to the field each weekend. The national team first played in 1881, and the game quickly became part of the country’s sporting identity. This design reworks the map of Wales as a cheerful cartoon rugby player, charging forward with the ball under one arm. The illustration follows a playful retro mascot style, using bold outlines, simple shapes and bright colours inspired by older cartoon characters. The movement and familiar rugby ball keep the graphic clear and lively, giving the impression that Wales itself has joined the match. A bright graphic built around the idea that rugby is never far away - even if results aren’t what they once were! Cadw'r fydd!!
