Rugby has been part of everyday life across Wales for generations, from international matches to local clubs playing each weekend in towns and villages. The national side first took the field in 1881, and the sport quickly became a key part of Welsh identity. This design reimagines the map of Wales as a cheerful cartoon rugby player, charging forward with the ball under one arm. The illustration uses a retro mascot style, with bold outlines, simple shapes and bright colours inspired by vintage cartoons. The running figure and rugby ball keep the design clear and energetic, as if Wales itself is in the match. A bright graphic built around the idea that rugby is never far away in Wales - even if we are really bad at it at the moment!
