This design features Owain Glyndŵr, but not quite as he appears in the history books. Here he’s been reimagined as a surfing skeleton, catching a wave with full commitment and apparently no concern at all for the passage of six centuries. The artwork has a bold, retro surf-poster feel, with clean outlines, bright coastal colours and a slightly absurd sense of movement. The crashing wave, pink sky and skeleton-on-a-board setup give it a sunny, seaside energy, while the Glyndŵr nod adds a distinctly Welsh twist. It’s part of a wider series showing Glyndŵr living life to the max - less solemn national hero, more unstoppable medieval icon making the absolute most of his afterlife. A playful Welsh design for anyone who likes their history with a bit of salt spray, dry bones and poor risk assessment.
