Three Cliffs Bay is found on the south coast of the Gower Peninsula near Swansea, named for the three pointed limestone cliffs that rise from the shoreline. It’s a well-known and scenic stretch of beach. The design keeps things simple, reducing the landscape to a graphic scene with bold colour and clear outlines that suggest the cliffs, dunes and water without added detail. The layout stays clean and balanced so the coastline is easy to recognise. The stream Pennard Pill runs through the bay before reaching the sea, and the ruins of Pennard Castle sit above on higher ground overlooking the view.
