At the centre of this design is a happy lemon character, taking a walk through a pine forest in Pembroke. He’s recently become a grandfather, though it’s not especially relevant to the scene. For most people, Pembroke brings to mind the castle, Henry VII, coastal mist or chips on a harbour wall with a determined seagull nearby. This image instead points to Pembroke Pines in Florida. The name traces back to Sir Edward J. Reed, MP for Pembroke, whose land company bought land in the area during the 19th century. A local road took the name, and when the city was formed in 1960, it became Pembroke Pines, referencing both that history and the landscape. Pembroke in Cymru suits root crops, while Pembroke Pines supports citrus. The design uses bold shapes, limited colour and a layout inspired by vintage produce labels. A retro-style graphic with a sunnier take on a familiar place name.
