This design draws on classic Western poster art, showing a lone cowboy riding through a desert landscape within a tombstone-shaped frame. He’s armed and looks a bit unpredictable. Cactus silhouettes, warm tones and simple shapes give it a strong frontier feel. The phrase “Swansea, Arizona” might sound like a mix-up, but it refers to a real ghost town. Founded in the early 1900s during the copper mining boom, it has a direct link to Wales. Copper ore from the area was shipped to Swansea in Wales - known as “Copperopolis” - for smelting. That connection led to the town taking the Swansea name once a local smelter was built. The boom didn’t last. By the 1930s the mines had shut and the town was left to decay. The design highlights that contrast - a Welsh name set in a very different landscape. A clean, retro-style graphic that blends Western imagery with a piece of shared history.
