Inspired by the old Coliseum Cinema on Porthmadog High Street, this fine art poster celebrates a building that meant a lot to generations of local cinema-goers. Opened in the 1930s, the Coliseum had that classic Art Deco picture-house presence — the sort of place that made even an ordinary evening at the cinema feel a bit grander. For many years it was part of the rhythm of the town, showing films, hosting events and giving people somewhere to go for childhood treats, rainy afternoons and the occasional big-night-out. After closing in 2011, it was demolished in 2016 — a real loss for Porthmadog’s High Street. The design reimagines it with a touch of old cinema magic: clean linework, vintage type and a friendly film-reel character standing proudly outside.
