This design takes inspiration from Pentre Ifan, the famous prehistoric monument in the Preseli Hills of Pembrokeshire. The artwork strips the scene back to bold forms, flat tones and a compact layout focused on the striking shape of the capstone poised above its uprights, with the sun glowing behind. Dating from around 3000 BC, Pentre Ifan is one of Wales’ best-known Neolithic sites. It formed part of a burial chamber once enclosed beneath an earthen mound. Today the exposed stones remain, dominated by the huge capstone measuring about 5 metres and estimated at around 16 tonnes. Balanced in place for millennia, it still looks faintly impossible. The clean front chest print gives it the feel of an ancient emblem.
