This design takes inspiration from Elegug Stacks, one of the most striking coastal sights in Pembrokeshire. Just along from the Green Bridge of Wales, two limestone sea stacks rise sharply from the water. The artwork keeps everything clean and graphic: bold forms, flat tones and a tight composition centred on the rocks, the sea and the low sun behind. These stacks were once joined to the cliffs, but wave action and weather gradually wore the land away, leaving the tall columns standing apart offshore. Their silhouette is instantly memorable. Elegug comes from the Welsh name for the guillemot, a seabird that nests here in impressive numbers each year.
