This design sits within a series of minimalist pieces centred on iconic locations across Wales. Portmeirion lies on the Gwynedd coast and feels quite different to most villages in the country. It was designed and built in the early 20th century by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, with the aim of creating a place that felt playful, colourful and slightly out of time. The result is a group of bright buildings, terraces and arcades that resemble a Mediterranean setting. The design uses clean lines and bold areas of colour to reflect that architectural style without adding unnecessary detail. The lettering remains clear and simple, sitting neatly with the visual. A bright, straightforward take on one of Wales’s most recognisable village scenes.
