This design takes its cue from vintage produce labels, with a Welsh and Argentinian twist. At the centre sit two cheerful cartoon cherries, both from Trelew in Patagonia. Trelew has deep Welsh roots, founded in 1886 by settlers. The name comes from “tre,” meaning town, and “Lew,” referring to Lewis Jones. The town lies in the Chubut Valley, part of Y Wladfa, where Welsh settlers travelled thousands of miles to build a new community and hold on to their language and culture. It’s far from Cymru, but the connection remains through place names, chapels, tea houses and the language still spoken there. The design stays clean and graphic, using bold shapes and limited colour. Checkerboard details and block lettering add a retro feel, while the characters bring a bit of life. A playful design with a small story behind the name.
