This design takes its cue from the old Coliseum Cinema in Porthmadog — once a much-loved High Street picture palace and a familiar part of the town’s character. Built in the 1930s with a distinctive Art Deco look, the Coliseum was woven into local life for decades, hosting films, events, school holiday trips and the kind of nights out that still stick in people’s memories. It closed in 2011 and, rather sadly, was demolished in 2016, bringing an end to one of Porthmadog’s most recognisable landmarks. The artwork gives the building a gently magical, vintage cinema feel, with fine linework, period-style lettering and a cheerful film-reel character out front. A small tribute to the days when a trip to the pictures felt like a proper occasion.
