Rugby is closely tied to everyday life in Wales, from major international fixtures to local matches played each weekend in towns and villages across the country. The national team first played in 1881, and the sport soon became a key part of Welsh culture. This design reimagines the map of Wales as a cheerful cartoon rugby player, running forward with the ball under one arm. The illustration follows a retro mascot style, using bold outlines, simple shapes and bright colours inspired by vintage cartoons. The movement and familiar rugby ball keep the design clear and lively, as if Wales itself has stepped onto the pitch. A bright graphic built around the idea that rugby is never far away in Wales - even if results have been a bit mixed lately! Cadw'r fydd!!
