This design takes inspiration from Shell Island, or Mochras, the well-known tidal peninsula near Llanbedr in Gwynedd on the shores of Cardigan Bay. The artwork keeps everything crisp and coastal, using a circular shell motif, light linework and a nostalgic seaside colour palette. Shell Island is best known for the huge range of shells that gather on its beaches, with hundreds of types found over time by patient collectors. Cockles, mussels, razor clams, scallops and many others regularly appear along the sand. The landscape was formed in the early nineteenth century when the River Artro was redirected, leaving this low sandy spit and dune system projecting into the bay. The two-sided design suits it perfectly: a fuller back print carrying the shell pattern and wording, with a neat front chest graphic of shells alone.
