This design is inspired by classic Western posters, with a lone cowboy riding through a desert scene framed in a tombstone-style shape. He’s carrying a gun and looks like he might be trouble. Cactus shapes, warm colours and simple forms give it a clear frontier feel. “Swansea, Arizona” sounds unlikely, but it’s a real place. The town was founded in the early 1900s during the copper boom and is now a ghost town. Its connection to Wales comes from the mining trade. Copper ore was shipped to Swansea in Wales - once known as “Copperopolis” - for processing. When a smelter was later built locally, the town took on the Swansea name. Like many towns of that era, it faded quickly. By the 1930s the mines had closed and the settlement was abandoned. The design leans into that contrast - a Welsh name placed in a desert setting. A bold, retro-inspired graphic with a slightly unexpected backstory.
