This design shows a cheerful cat character dressed in traditional Welsh costume. Rounded shapes, tidy linework and a limited palette keep everything clean and balanced - the tall black hat, red bodice and patterned apron all doing their bit without fuss. The clothing draws on traditional Welsh dress linked to rural Wales in the 18th and 19th centuries, and now regularly brought out for St David’s Day, school celebrations, or the occasional high-stakes dawnsio gwerin showdown somewhere behind the shops in Aberdare. The famous hat remains one of the clearest visual symbols of Wales, despite spending much of the year in cupboards. The cat wears it convincingly. Felines already have a natural air of ceremony and self-regard, so this feels less like costume and more like formalwear.
