This design forms part of a series of minimalist pieces focused on iconic parts of Wales. Ynys Llanddwyn sits off the west coast of Anglesey, linked to the mainland at low tide by a narrow stretch of sand. The island is closely associated with Santes Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of lovers. According to legend, she retreated here after a broken heart and was granted three wishes, one of which was that true lovers would be blessed. Her well on the island was once visited by couples seeking signs about their future. The artwork uses bold, clear shapes and simple lines to suggest the outline of the island and its lighthouse without extra detail. A bright, pared-back take on one of Wales’s most recognisable coastal spots.
